De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Built between 1235 and 1283, the Church of St Elizabeth was Germany's first genuinely Gothic church. Its Germanic character is typified by its three naves, all rising to the same height in the classic manner of a hall church, and by the harmonious whole formed by the choir and the transepts, each terminating in an apse. It is also typical of Hessen church architecture thanks to the crosswise arrangement of the gables which cover the side naves. Some exceptional works of art include St Elizabeth's casket.
