This street, lined with fine houses with colourful façades in the Baroque or Neo-classical style, bears the name of a journalist. Mihály Táncsics (1799-1884) was a hero of the struggle for national independence and a fierce supporter of the emancipation of the serfs. In the Middle Ages, it was the main street in the Jewish Quarter in Buda.
