The royal tombs comprise of a variety of troglodytic and monumental tombs hewn into Jebel al-Khubtha. Among them are the Urn Tomb (with main chamber measuring 300m2), converted into a church by the Byzantines; the Corinthian Tomb, sadly much eroded by the ravages of time; the Palace Tomb, of ambitious dimensions; and the younger tomb of Sextius Florentinus, a Roman governor. The multiple hues of the grained sandstone give the carved façades a majestic aspect and their interiors an elegant ambience.
