This interesting work of art composed of a single stone arch spans the Vecchio at a height of 96m. It was constructed between 1825 and 1827 on the main road running between Ajaccio and Bastia and is overlooked by the tall piers of the metal railway viaduct constructed by Gustave Eiffel circa 1888. The Ajaccio-Bastia railway line was completed and opened in 1894. Beautiful view over the deep gorge of the river, with the surrounding mountains exceeding an altitude of 2 000m.
