De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Some 36,000 years ago in Ardèche, men and women created a masterpiece. The Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc grotto, discovered in 1994, reveals prehistoric works of art, frozen into the calcite and clay. The Chauvet grotto, which features three characteristics rarely found together, age, quality of conservation and wealth of representation, is considered to be the world's first major artistic work known today. Its replica, Grotte Chauvet 2 - Ardèche, now places this masterpiece within reach of the general public.
