Saint Elmo Fort looks out over the embankment of Valletta's Grand Harbour, which used to be a hub of intense trade, but are now devoted to leisure pursuits. The Waterfront is now home to cafes, restaurants and bars very popular with tourists of the cruise ships at anchor. The site is best discovered from the sea on a cruise out of Sliema.
