This museum takes you back to a bygone world by recreating the working-class district of Shitamachi, flattened by the 1923 earthquake and then razed to the ground by the 1945 bombings. It brings back to life eloquent reconstructions of the homes of humble craftsmen: confectioners, and producers of straps for shoes and clogs. The first floor is devoted to historic documents and an amazing collection of traditional toys of incredible ingenuity.
