The monastery-castle looms up behind the vineyards that produce a popular local wine. The majestic, 100% Savoyard edifice recalls the heyday of the House of Savoie. Vested in the 15C by Amadeus VIII, elected pope in 1449 under the name of Felix V, it was the property of the Carthusians from 1619 until the Revolution. As well as the castle, visit the forest (and the Glade of the Righteous, a memorial to those who risked everything to save Jews from the Holocaust) and an arboretum.
