While there has been no castle in this square since 1589, there is a statue of General Dessaix, who founded the Club of Allobroges during the Revolution, to gather supporters for the unification of Savoie with France. From the terraces, beautiful views of the Swiss bank of Lake Geneva, Ripaille Castle, the Jura and in the background the Alps.
