The superb Tanum carvings, which are now on UNESCO's World Heritage List, date from the early Bronze Age (1500-500 BC). Here, hundreds of scenes are spread across four sites (Vitlycke, Aspeberget, Litlseby, Fossum); some have been repainted so that they can be seen more easily. Their meaning remains uncertain, although you can make out animals, humans and boats. A museum and a reconstruction of a Bronze Age farm complete this fascinating visit.
