The vast Art Gallery of New South Wales is housed in a majestic classical edifice designed by architect Walter Liberty Vernon. It showcases a superb panorama of Australian artwork from the colonial era to the present day, together with European, Asian, contemporary and Aboriginal art. The museum also hosts a major annual exhibition.
