The largest of the Channel Islands (116km2) fully deserves its nickname of "island of flowers". Thanks to an exceptional climate, partly influenced by the Gulf Stream, Jersey is carpeted with flowers in spring and summer (don't miss the Battle of Flowers in August). An enchanting mix of British charm and Normandy traditions is to be found in the busy little streets of the capital, Saint Helier, which is also home to museums and prehistoric remains (Neolithic tomb), a zoo and coastal paths.
