The summit of Mount Chiniac topped with a crown of conifers dominates the town of St Agrève. Called Chinacum by the Romans, the town was renamed in honour of Saint Agrippa, the bishop martyred on Mount Chiniac. The view stretches southwest over the Mézenc range, with the peak of Montivernoux very visible, Gerbier-de-Jonc, the Mézenc ridge; to the west over the Meygal range and Lizieux summit; the mounts of Lalouvesc are to the northeast.
