St-George's Rotunda was built at the beginning of the 4C, during the reign of Constantine the Great. This religious building (probably a baptistery), was erected according to a fairly complex plan: a vast, circular central chamber, surmounted by a dome and surrounded by four semi-circular apses. The rotunda was rebuilt on several occasions. Inside you will notice the five successive layers of mural paintings dating from the 6C to the 14C. The figures of the twenty-two prophets (under the dome) are particularly remarkable.
