De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
The oldest part of the city, the island of Ortigia is linked to the mainland by the Ponte Nuovo; the road continues as Corso Umberto I, one of Siracusa's main thoroughfares. Here, the sea is ever present, dotted with multi-coloured boats and visible from the waterfront that extends along both sides of the bridge. Every morning, a market is held between the sea and the Temple of Apollo, creating a lively and colourful atmosphere.
