The second largest island of the Inland Sea, a 30min boat journey from Takamatsu, offers a landscape that is highly prized by Japanese tourists and reminiscent of the Mediterranean with its olive groves. The island is also famous for its shoyu (soya sauce) and somen (wheat noodles). It is possible to follow an abridged 88-temple pilgrimage, climb to the top of Mount Kankakei, explore the rice fields or take in a contemporary art exhibition at the Setouchi Triennale.
