Arriving from Praya, visitors are greeted by a splendid coastal view. The road then drops to Selong Blanak, a fishing village set on a sweeping expanse of sand, before heading east towards the hills and to surfing beaches: beyond the lovely Mawi, the wilder and larger Tampah beach is reached along a track. After 8km, a small fork to the right leads to Mawun, a beautiful inlet of white sand. Another beach popular with surfers is Are Guling.
