Savignac-Lédrier forge
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Dominated by the castle where the forge master resided, the industrial heritage of Savignac-Lédrier is testament to the region's main activity. Created in 1521, its blast furnace made its last iron casting in 1930 and the forge closed down in 1975, after having been repurposed as a wire drawing mill (nails, keys, iron wire). An informative trail around the site, on the banks of the River Auvézère, takes 30-40min on foot.
