De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Founded in 1795, the National Library of Russia, the second largest in Russia, contains over 28 million books. Among its treasures are the archives of the Bastille prison and the personal library of Voltaire, acquired by Catherine the Great, with whom she had an extensive correspondence. Note the rounded facade on Nevsky Prospekt of this edifice built in 1801 by architect Egor Sokolov.
