This castle was built over 700 years ago. The initial construction phase in the 13C was followed by numerous extensions up to the 17C, resulting in a complex and sumptuous castle with a combination of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. The history of the Herberstein family, who have lived in this fortress since the 13C, is closely interwoven with that of the building itself.
