An impressive collection of nautical memorabilia is housed in San Pedro's historic Art Deco Municipal Ferry Building, situated on the main channel of the port, which until 1968 welcomed ferries from neighboring Terminal Island. The centerpiece of the museum's holdings is its outstanding collection of ship models, highlighted by an 18ft cutaway version of the R.M.S. Titanic. The display of 64 seamen's knots challenges visitors to test their knot-tying skills on accompanying ropes, and an active ham radio station lets the curious eavesdrop on port traffic.
