Palazzo della Farnesina ai Baullari (Museo Barracco)
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
This museum is housed in what was once the Roman residence of Thomas Le Roy, a Breton prelate who accompanied King Charles VIII to Rome in 1494. In 1522-23, Le Roy had this elegant palazzo built by Jean de Chenevières, the architect of San Luigi dei Francesi church; the building is so refined that it was long attributed to Sangallo. Today it is home to works of Ancient sculpture (Assyrian, Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek, Roman) collected by Giovanni Barracco, a rich Calabrian aristocrat, who gave his collection to the city of Rome in 1904.
