Rue du Petit-Champlain
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Rue du Petit Champlain acquired its current name in the 19C, when the wider Boulevard Champlain, parallel to the river, was created. The wooden houses lining the street were inhabited by craftsmen and labourers until the 19C and then by Irish immigrants who found work in the port district. Much of the neighbourhood fell into decay in the early 20C following the economic decline of the port, but recent restoration work has transformed it into a lively district, rich in restaurants, boutiques and art galleries.
