Built in the early Renaissance by Lorenzo il Magnifico's architect Giuliano da Sangallo, this church features both rigourous geometric lines and dignity of proportion. Inside, where pietra serena emphasises the architectural lines and contrasts with the pale colour of the walls (bringing to mind the Florentine chapels by Brunelleschi), it is decorated with a graceful, painted ceramic frieze by Andrea Della Robbia.
