Built in 1868 in a neo-Mauresque style, the Spanish Synagogue is the only relatively modern contribution to the ghetto that preceded the asanace (the replacement of the dilapidated buildings and insalubrious courtyard with elegant buildings and wide avenues, carried out between 1895 and 1913). Its opulent interior contains presentations on the history of the Jewish communities of Bohemia from the late 18C, following on from the Maisel Synagogue exhibition.
