Steep little streets and alleys penetrate the right bank, up to the imposing cathedral that watches over Porto's old town, the historical centre of this city dating from the Middle Ages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It lies around the working-class area of Ribeira, which has undergone regeneration works, and has a lively nightlife with many bars and restaurant.
