The port is in a cove almost enclosed by two dykes to the south-east of the town. At every return of the fishermen, the esplanade which runs round it at the foot of the citadel becomes the theatre for a colourful spectacle, the ceaseless aerial ballet of the shrieking seagulls when the fish is unloaded.
