Inaugurated in January 2015, the futuristic building, designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, complements the former Cité de la Musique. It has an auditorium and concert hall (2 400 seats), with curved architecture and top-notch acoustics. Housed in the dynamic Parc de la Villette, on the edge of Paris, the Philharmonie positions itself as a cultural space open to all audiences, and where classical music is brought to the people. At weekends shows and workshops aimed at children are organised.
