Rue d'Auteuil
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
This narrow shopping street harks back to the literary renown of the village of Auteuil. In the 18C the Demoiselles de Verrières, protégés of Marshal de Saxe, lived at no 43, in the Hôtel Antier. One of them was George Sand's great-grandmother. Opposite, at no 40, the Auberge du Mouton Blanc counted Molière, Racine and La Fontaine among its regulars. At no 59 stood the the house of Madame Helvétius, better known as Notre-Dame d'Auteuil, who received such luminaries as Turgot, Condorcet and Malesherbes.
