From 1826, the Manufacture des Gobelins tapestry factory housed the Savonnerie carpet factory, and from 1940, the Beauvais tapestry factory, established in 1664. Over 5 000 tapestries have been created here using the traditional methods of the 17C (including more than 14 000 dyes) and based on the designs of great masters: Le Brun, Poussin, Boucher, Lurçat, Picasso etc.
