This narrow road is bordered with a number of art galleries. The former Hôtel des Pompes (N°30) was the first fire station in Paris: the brigade was created in 1722. Molière set up his first theatre at N°12 and his company moved to N°42 after his death, the future Guénégaud theatre (and forerunner of the Comédie Française theatre).
