The market town of Paimpont seems to rise magically out of the mass of surrounding forest. You can discover the traces left by Merlin and the fairy Viviane in the legendary Brocéliande Forest, whose trees, moors, ponds and streams provide the setting for some beautiful walks. Although the hundred-year-old trees were lost to the fire of 1990, the gorse, heather, broom and ferns have grown to create a new landscape, which has an undeniable charm.
