This history museum boasts several sections worthy of interest, including its coin and ethnographic collections (relating to the Norwegian Sami people), the rooms dedicated to the Vikings (superb gold and silver treasures), and, above all, an extensive medieval art gallery. The latter displays finely engraved drinking horns, beautiful wooden church portals, and, in particular, the painted vault from the church in Ål.
