Travelling up the Olden Valley is a magnificent experience. The turbulent torrent that descends from the glacier broadens out into a series of three lakes framed by steep mountain slopes. You go up to the glacier on foot or in a pony-drawn cart. When the track stops, a narrow path weaves between enormous rocks up to the foot of the glacier, which drops from an altitude of 1 700m to just 346m. The view of this enormous mass of ice, slit by broad crevasses literally takes your breath away.
