Hokusaikan Museum
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
In addition to showing some 30 prints, the principal aim of this museum dedicated to Hokusai (and secondarily to his disciples) is to present original works, notably ink drawings and kakejiku (vertical hanging scrolls) by the grand master. They enable visitors to admire the perfection of the line, the genious to capture in a few strokes the essence of a moving subject or to suggest the evanescent beauty of a courtesan in a kimono. Also ceiling panels and two floats painted by the artist.
