The hip neighborhood of Chelsea, made up of quiet streets in an historic district, is depicted by terraces of brick tenements covered in wisteria and Virginia creeper, shrouded by lines of trees. Down at the docks, the old warehouses are now sports and leisure facilities or any one of innumerable art galleries, to such an extent that the neighborhood is sometimes called Gallery District. Walk down High Line, whose extension now commands a fine perspective over the area.
