Founded in 1853, City Park is the sixth largest urban park in the US (750ha), lying on swamps drained by French colonisers. Damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the city's green lung has been the focus of a mammoth rehabilitation. It houses the must-see New Orleans Museum of Art. It features the New Orleans Botanical Garden, as well as a mini train and the theme parks of Storyland and Carousel Gardens, for youngsters to enjoy.
