Notre Dame Abbey Church
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Religious life developed here with the foundation, in 971, of a Benedictine abbey by Adalberon, Bishop of Reims. After the construction of a first church, the Abbatiale Notre Dame was built around 1190 and completed in 1231, except for the north tower (15C) and south tower (16C). The abbey church, sold during the Revolution, became a hospital. Restorations were carried out in the late 19C. Note the richly sculpted tympanum and the carved wooden organ and casing (1725), by Christophe Moucherel.
