The museum is dedicated to local artist Anne-Louis Girodet, favourite pupil of David and one of the giants of neo-Classical painting. The Girodet Collection takes pride of place, with some 20 paintings including portraits and the fine piece The Geography Lesson (1803). In late 2018 the museum reopened after extension and renovation work: exhibition hall, workshops, library and impressive 250m² glass extension.
