The atmosphere in this Mexico City neighbourhood affords quite a contrast to the city centre, about ten kilometres to the northeast. Inhabited by Dominicans after the Conquest and a prosperous colonial enclave in the 17C, San Ángel boasts some fine residences along its cobblestone streets. Join the crowd who come on weekends for the crafts markets, in particular around Plaza San Jacinto, then take a journey back to the days of New Spain at the Museo de El Carmen and Museo de la Casa Novohispana.
