Refurbished in 2013, this museum has become one of Marseille's treasures. In a streamlined and light-filled building, the substantially augmented collections are organised into 13 sequences, presenting the history of Marseille from prehistory to the present day in a clear and informative way. Be sure to see the amazing shipwreck of a 3C Roman merchant ship, the largest vessel from the period on display in the world, and the superb funerary basilica from rue Malaval.
