De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Of Romanesque origin, Leeds Castle was built on two islands in the middle of a lake. A stone bridge links the keep and the turreted main building. The castle was described by Lord Conway as "the prettiest castle in the world". A royal residence in the Middle Ages, it was a garrison, prison etc before becoming the residence of Lady Baillie, a wealthy heiress and art lover, who refurbished it in her taste in the 1930s. In the grounds, there is an aviary, a secret grotto and a labyrinth.
