The old venue for pallone col braciale (a ball-and-court game in which players wear a bristled glove) is world famous for its exceptional acoustics. Inaugurated in 1829, and in a neo-Classical style, the hemicycle is surrounded by a Doric colonnade; 104 boxes overlook the stage.
