De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
This classically inspired building adjoining the University of Louisville's Belknap campus houses a permanent collection of more than 12,000 pieces spanning 6,000 years. Founded in 1925 by Hattie Bishop Speed as a memorial to her husband, Louisville businessman James B. Speed, the museum contains the work of numerous masters (Monet, Rembrandt, Rubens, Rodin). Two particular collections stand out: the European Galleries and the Kentucky Room. The former features tapestries and Medieval decorative arts; the latter showcases paintings, sculpture and decorative arts with a Kentucky connection.
