Pantages Theater is recognizable by its handsome signage. The first Art deco movie palace in the US (1930), it boasts an awe-inspiring lobby, lavishly adorned with gilt motifs, statues and glittering chandeliers. It was also one of the first movie theaters to show talkies. From 1949 to 1959, it hosted the Academy Awards ceremony.
