James Irvine Garden
De Groene Gids
De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Designed in the traditional Japanese style by Takeo Uesugi, the 8,500sq ft garden features a bamboo glen and a 170ft cascading stream symbolizing issei, nisei and sansei-or first-, second-, and third-generation Japanese Americans. A tranquil path meanders among more than 30 species of Asian and local semitropical plants. Overlooking the garden is an expanse of brick plaza anchored by a massive stone sculpture titled To the Issei. The plaza and the sculpture are the work of city native and internationally acclaimed artist Isamu Noguchi (1904-88).
