De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
Charles Dickens and his family lived in this 18C house from April 1837 to December 1839. Here Dickens finished The Pickwick Papers and wrote, among others, Oliver Twist and Nicholas Nickleby. The house is home to a collection of portraits, memoirs and manuscripts. The lounge with its rosewood furniture and its engravings by Hogarth, retains its original decor, while in the basement, the kitchen and storeroom recreate the atmosphere of a typical middle-class 19C London home.
