On Fridays and Saturdays a flea market is held on Portobello Road, which is also a rallying point of the exotic and lively carnival in late August. Expansive gardens overlooked by grand, magnificently restored houses. Trendy bars and restaurants, art galleries and designer boutiques also add to the ambience of this bourgeois-bohemian neighbourhood.
