De beoordeling van de Michelin Gids
This former hunting lodge, built around 1670 by João de Mascarenhas (first Marquis of Fronteira), and its garden are strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance. It is stunning! The quality and diversity of its azulejos, which, from the palace to the gardens, cover every conceivable flat surface, are exceptional: those in the Hall of Battles illustrating the War of Restoration, 17C Delft tiles adorn the dining room and, outside, the bestiary adds a humorous note.
