Not far from the coast of Thrace, Thasos forms a mountainous island, the highest point of which is Mt Ipsarion (1 127m), which emerges from the turquoise waters of the Aegean Sea. A sunny coastline of beaches, creeks and corniches, excellent infrastructure and ancient vestiges of Limenas: the green island of Thasos has much to recommend it.
